ACH Export

FUNCTION:

An ACH Export program creates a file in NACHA standard format, tailored to the configuration requested by your bank.

The standard Recurring Payment Maintenance and Check Entry programs in TrustNet allow entry of:

  • payment method (you would use code A for ACH)
  • ABA Routing number
  • account number
  • whether the deposit will be to checking or savings
You can get started entering these numbers while the ACH program is being written.

The ACH setup process begins with a worksheet, where you define:

  • company information
  • ABA routing numbers for Origin and Transit
  • the description that will appear on the recipient’s bank statement
  • debit/credit method and other setup options
With this information, we configure a program to fit the internal content and overall format requirements needed by your bank. We can configure the first version of the program to send a pre-notification file as a safeguard to check whether your ABA routing numbers and account numbers are valid.

When all setup is complete, your normal routine for Check Writing will be:

  • generate recurring payments and hand-enter one-time payments
  • print a Pre-Check Listing to review
  • print paper checks (skipping payment method A)
  • export ACH payments (will select only payment method A)
  • process wire payments (this would be a separate custom program)
  • export to check reconciliation
  • print the Check Register, which releases to daily transaction file, ready for posting
After ACH payments have been posted, the Transaction Inquiry screen and statements will show the word “ACH” as the check number for those transactions. Typically, your bank will provide software or other transmission procedures that you will follow to import the ACH file into the banking system. Because this is different for each bank, you will need to work with the bank’s technical staff to learn their procedures.

BENEFITS:

An ACH Export adds value to the core system by …

  • saving the cost of printing checks and postage to mail them.

  • providing better service to your clients. ACH payments are reliably deposited to their
bank account without a drive to the bank and waiting in line, even if they are on vacation.
Electronic delivery dates are more predictable than postal delivery dates.

PREREQUISITE MODULES:
