Vanguard Interface
FUNCTION:
| |
Vanguard offers a data feed functionality to its clients so that tedious manual
efforts can be
replaced by time-saving automation. The first step would be to make arrangements
with
Vanguard for you to have access to their FTP site.
The Vanguard staff will teach you how to download the files from the FTP site.
The data files
that they upload for you have a different name for every date. This provides
flexibility so that
you can process daily, weekly, monthly, or anywhere in between.
The TrustNet module includes two programs: |
| |
- Vanguard Reconciliation. This program compares the positions from
the Vanguard
data feed with the positions in the TrustNet tax lot file. A report
prints one line for each
asset, showing both positions and the difference (if any). At the
same time, the market
prices for each asset are imported to the asset file and the price
history file.
- Import Vanguard Factors. This program pulls in the daily factors
for the Vanguard
funds that use daily accrual dividend calculations and stores them.
A report prints the
imported factors for easy review. At month-end, you will be ready to
calculate
dividends.
Configuration options in this module allow you to define:
-
the location of the Vanguard data files
-
specifications to identify Vanguard assets by Fund Family code, where-held code,
registration code, or any combination of the above
|
BENEFITS:
The Vanguard Interface adds value to the core system by …
| |
- making it easy to do daily reconciliation. This strengthens your
internal record-keeping
and should earn you improved marks on your next audit.
- saving time on daily factor entry. These 9-digit numbers are not
fun to type in by hand.
With a data feed, you never need to spend extra time double-checking
your entry in
order to insure accurate month-end calculations.
- saving money on market pricing data (if available in the data
feed). You can first
import your Vanguard prices, then request only missing assets to be
priced using the
Remote Plus from FT Interactive.
